Everday Moments

A Parent’s Journey Through the Lens of a Behavior Analysis

Parenting is a series of small, profound moments. As both a parent and a behavior analyst, I find that these everyday moments — the seemingly ordinary ones — often hold the most valuable lessons. There’s beauty in the little things: the first time my child paused for a picture, follows a routine, the joy of celebrating a milestone that once seemed impossible, or even the challenges that remind us of the depth of our love and determination.

In my role as a behavior analyst, I draw on strategies and techniques to support and train my child navigate the world. As a parent, I’m constantly reminded that every child is unique, and sometimes the most effective interventions come from simply being present. The science of behavior analysis meets the art of parenting in these moments — when a technique clicks, or when my child teaches me something new about patience, persistence, and flexibility.

Through these stories, I share the reality of balancing clinical practice with the emotional highs and lows of parenthood. Whether it’s a drive home from school, a family outing, or a quiet moment of connection, I’ve come to appreciate the unpredictability of this journey. It’s a reminder that behavior analysis isn’t just about fixing problems; it’s about understanding, supporting, and celebrating every small victory along the way.
